AB OBJECTIVE. To analyse survival of patients according to providers of
medical care. METHODS. Analysis of AIDS Registry. RESULTS. Health system
in Mexico is divided in four categories: TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT
VOLUME. Up to Jan, 1994 17,387 cases had been notified. Survival in
months according to each type of institution was as follows: TABULAR
DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME. CONCLUSIONS. Differentials between different
care providers are very important, hospitals having the highest coverage
have the shortest survival of patients. Survival depends on timely
search for care, timely diagnosis, availability of treatment and support
measures and training of health workers. Reinforcement of these aspects
is urgent.
